ASH'S JAKYRA EDWARDS (PURPLE) SPRINTS TO A WIN IN THE 100m AT THE HOSS GARRETT RELAYS
Here are the top 25 performances for Louisiana HS girls through the first four weeks of the 2024 season. You will find three of the young ladies pictured above in the rankings for the 100m. Menard's A'Shyria Burns (No. 4; 11.98) and Alexandria Senior High's Jakyra Edwards (No. 7; 12.08) squared off again last Thursday at the "Hoss" Garrett Relays in Ruston.
Burns has won both times the stars from Central Louisiana have met. However, neither ran faster last week than they did earlier in the month at the Mansfield Wolverines Invitational.
Airline's Kezyriah Sykes (pictured in the columbia blue in lane 2) is currently tied for No.12 in the state with a best time of 12.27. In the sophomore class, Sykes is ranked No. 2 in the state with only Thibodeaux's Ka'leyah Coleman (No. 10; 12.26) the only sprinter ahead of her in the Class of 2026.
