KENLI ADDISON (797) LEANS TO WIN THE 100m AT THE REGION 11 QUALIFIER
Here are the finalists for MileSplit LA Girls' 14&U Athlete of the Year. Each athlete made the ballot by winning a Performer of the Week poll during the summer. Congratulations to the finalists. The poll will close on Saturday at 9pm.
CATHERINE WOOSLEY (USA THROWS PROJECT)- Won the 11-year-old girls turbo javelin at the SELA Roadrunner Opener. Woosley threw the turbo jav 56-0, eight feet further than her closest competitor. She also threw the discus 34-1. She won the first poll of the summer by a whooping 78%--the largest margin of victory in any poll this summer.
KHAI BROWN (SPRINT NOLA)- Brown won the 14-year-old girls 400m (1:01.76), 100m hurdles (15.10), and broke the meet record in the 200m hurdles with a time of 28.44--which is a new meet record at the Louisiana Governor's Games. She won the second poll of the summer by getting 40% of the vote.
KENLI ADDISON (SBR JAGS)- Won the sprint double (100m and 200m) in the girls' 13 year-old division of the AAU Region 11 Qualifier in Hammond. Addison won the Week No. 3 poll with 41% of the vote.
EDEN TEMPLE (FUTURE TRACK CLUB)- Won the 9-10 girls' 800m (2:42.65) at the USATF Southern Association Junior Olympics. She also won her Performer of the Week poll by 46%.
KENYA CUMMINGS (US EXPRESS)- Cummings finished first in the 11-12 girls 3000m with a time of 13:05.50 at the USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics. She tied in her Performer of the Week poll with Kiyari Ivey. Both athletes had 22% of the vote.
KIYARI IVEY (NEW ORLEANS METRO STARS)- Ivey won the 11-12 girls' shot put with a throw of 26-10. She also finished second in the javelin with a mark of 66-7 at the USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics.
EMOIREE ROGERS (SBR JAGS)- Rogers finished second in the 12-year-old girls' long jump with a leap of 16-5 at the AAU Club Championships in Orlando, Florida. She won the final Performer of the Week poll by getting 38% of the vote.
