After one of the most successful seasons of any distance runner in Louisiana history, it's no surprise to find Zachary's Rhen Langley on top of this end-of-year list of the best 800m runners. Langley's senior year--which was nothing short of amazing--began during the indoor season when he began his assault on the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse composite record book.
After celebrating the end of a successful indoor campaign by eating two pieces of King Cake, Langley was right back training for the outdoor season.
Langley--like the next three fastest half milers in Louisiana--saved his best for last in an epic LHSAA Class 5A State Championship 800m race--winning with a time of 1:51.55.
Right behind Langley was Catholic's Winston Decuir (No. 2; 1:52.42). Just a couple of seconds back, (No. 3; 1:54.87) Pineville's Justin Descant crossed the line. Descant was just ahead of Jesuit's Zack Blanchard (No.4; 1:55.16).
