McNeese State head coach Brendon Gilroy is excited about the prospect of hosting high school indoor meets again. The last time the Cowboys hosted an indoor meet was in 2019. At the time, over 900 athletes were coming to the campus in Lake Charles to compete. Due to Covid and damage from hurricanes Laura and Delta, it has "been a long road" to get the Pokes in a position to host, but all systems are go for January 2023.
Coach Gilroy also talks about the history-making 2022 McNeese State girls track and field team, who swept Southland Conference titles in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. McNeese State Mens' cross country also claimed a championship during the 2021 season.
