Lucy Cramer Breaks National Record At USATF Junior Olympics!

LUCY CRAMER COMPETES ARE THE LHSAA STATE OUTDOOR MEET

Lucy Cramer, representing US Express Track Club, broke the national record in the 15-16 girls' 2000m steeplechase at the USATF National Junior Olympics in College Station, Texas Thursday morning. Cramer, who will begin her sophomore year of high school at Parkview Baptist next month, ran a 6:56.30.

Cramer broke the old record of 6:56.97 set by Colorado's Eleanor Fulton in 2008.

In May, Cramer led her Parkview Baptist team to the LHSAA Class 3A state championship. It was the first time the Parkview Baptist had won state in girls' track since 2001--when Lucy's mother, Kate Cramer, was on the team.

While it was a national record for Cramer, it wasn't a personal record. Cramer ran a 6:53.23 in the same event at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon earlier this summer.

In a field of 24 runners, Cramer, who will be eligible to return in the same age group next year, crushed the competition winning by 33 seconds.
