As the USATF National Junior Olympics get underway in College Station this week, we have gone through the results to find some girls to watch as they hit the track in Aggieland.
100m
Dillon Landry (Future Track Club)- Landry has continued the momentum from an outstanding high school season into the summer before her senior year at St. Joseph's Academy. Landry was third at the 100m at the USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics with a time of 12.27. Her best time at the meet came in the prelims when she ran a 12.07. She will be looking to rekindle some of the magic from her championship season when she went sub 12:00 three weeks in a row culminating with a wind-aided 11.81 and a third-place finish at the LHSAA Class 5A State Championship. Landry is pictured below on the left competing in the LHSAA Class 5A 100m.
200m & 400m
Aaryona Kinchen (Future Track Club)- Before she heads off to Waco to continue her career with as a Baylor Bear, Kinchen has last assignment with the Future Track Club, and she is going to be one we watch in both the 200m and 400m. She won both events at USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics in Jackson earlier this month. She had a 24.85 in the 200m and a 55.79 in the 400m. Her fastest time in the 200m this season came at the Region 2-4A Meet where she was a champion with a time of 24.00. While she finished second at the LHSAA Class 4A State Meet in the 200m, she was the champion in the 400m where she won with a time of 54.50. That just .01 off her person of 54.49 set at the LHSCA Meet of Champions. Kinchen (5) is pictured below competing in the LHSAA Class 4A 200m.
800m
Macaylah Tingle (River Cities)- Tingle won the 15-16 girls USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics with a time of 2:28.46. The time would have also won the 17-18 women's division. The summer has been good to Tingle, who was the district 1-4A champion in the event with a time of 2:36. She got down to 2:30.18 at the LHSAA Class 4A State Championship, which was good enough for a fifth-place finish. In her last two meets, Tingle has walked off with a personal record. Can she pull off the hat trick with a third straight personal record in College Station? We cannot wait to find out. Tingle (3) is pictured below competing in the LHSAA Class 4A 800m.
1500m
Raine Goldenberg (New Orleans Metro Stars)-Won the 1500m in the 17-18 women's 1500m at the USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics with a time of 5:02.93. Her fastest time during the high school season in the 1600m came in a runner-up performance at the Region 3-2A where she ran a 5:14.33.
2000m Steeplechase
Myah Chenier (225 Trained)- Unlike others on this list, we will not be able to compare Chenier's time to her high school time because Louisiana does not have the steeplechase as an event. However, Chenier did compete in the event during the 2024 season at the Texas Relays. She finished No. 11 with a time of 8:05. Chenier won the USATF Region 6 Meet with a personal record time of 7:58.91.
3000m
Andie Woodhead (Ultimate Performance)- Woodhead was the runner-up at the USATF Region 6 Junior Olympics with a time of 12:06. She has taken a step forward as her best time in the 3200m during the high school season was 13:01 at the Jack Williams Relays. The district 1-3A and Region 1-3A champion in the 3200m, Woodhead finished seventh at the LHSAA Class 3A State Outdoor Meet with a time of 13:04.
