Louisiana at RunningLane Cross Country Nationals Preview

These teams make history by being the first teams to compete at a National Championship and score. The Blue Jay Distance Project, however, are the truer form of this, as they are registered in the highest level of competition.

RHS Dragonslayers (Ruston)

Members:

Ruston is coming off of a 3rd place finish from the Class 5A cross country state meet and is looking for more as the season comes to a close. The RHS Dragonslayers are entered in the silver division and will surely face off against stout competition from across the nation. As the 3rd best team in 5A they will have much to prove for Louisiana this weekend.

Caleb Babineaux is the top contender for the Bearcats and has the opportunity to place well within this division. There are a plethora of great runners with the top one being seeded at 14:42 for 5k.

Also keep a lookout for Ruston's next two runners, Thomas Rogers and Bryar Madden. These two have soared in talent from previous years and have always been found not too far behind Babineaux.

Blue Jay Distance Project (Jesuit)

Members:

Jesuit has just capped off a historical cross country season and has yet to stop. The team won the Class 5A state meet with the lowest winning score in Class 5A history with just 22 points. This weekend, they compete against the top teams in the nation, nothing like how they did at The Southern Showcase earlier this season.

The Blue Jays will be competing in the gold division, facing off against the best of the best in the nation. This will be their team's greatest test. To appear at the national level as Louisiana's strongest team in prep history.

Keep an eye out for Michael Vocke and Jack DesRoches this weekend. These two are a deadly duo and have proven to take on every challenge together. Not far behind them is Lucas Sampedro. He is by no means to be underestimated because in that small frame is a strong aerobic engine.

The rest of Jesuit's runners are no less impressive by any means. They are young and will return next year to become even better.
