The Louisiana Mid Season Cross Country Report

We've seen some fast times come out these past weeks, some faster than others but let's take a look back on some of the best performances of the past month.

Jenna Key of C.E. Byrd

- - -

This past weekend, sophomore Jenna Key of C.E. Byrd put up the fastest time in the entire state with a mark of 18:14 at the C.E. Byrd October Invitational. She won by over two minutes for a fantastic solo effort. She is undefeated in terms of competing against Louisiana runners. The only time that she has not finished first is when she traveled out to Texas. She has not competed against runners in south Louisiana, so it is hard to say how she will fare

As mentioned previously, Jack DesRoches and Michael Vocke put up an amazing 5k time of 15:24 and 15:22, respectively. As of right now, those times place those two around the top 200 in the nation for 5k.

Another big result that came out of this past weekend was the girls' results from the Catholic High Invitational. Grace Rennhoff faced off against the Dominican duo of Morgan Trauth and Kelsey Major. The three of these girls finished within two seconds of each other and ended up recording three of the fastest times in the state this season. Rennhoff emerged on top with a final time of 18:30.

Caleb Babineaux finishing first at the St. Joseph's Academy Invitational

- - -

Caleb Babineaux is another individual that has been performing well. He has consistently run fast times and beaten other top talents within the state. Based on how things are panning out right now, all looks well for Babineaux, however, he has not faced off against Jesuit's A-squad this season. Babineaux's season-best comes from the Cedar Creek Wallace Martin Invitational with a time of 15:36.

Rhen Langley (left) and Caleb Ackman (right) at the Episcopal Round Table Run

- - -

We haven't seen much recently from Zachary's two top runners, Caleb Ackman and Rhen Langley. They started off the season strong and currently hold on to two of the top times that have been run this season. These two are talented runners so don't count them out of the running yet. Ackman's best from this season is 15:28 from the Episcopal Round Table Run with Langley not too far behind at 15:34.
