Warhawks Wrap up Competition at Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The ULM track & field team finished the Alabama Relays with a solid performance on Sunday at the Sam Bailey Track on the campus of the University of Alabama.

The men’s relay squad came in second in the 4x200m race with a time of 1:28.84, and came in fifth in the 4x400m race in a time of 3:18.35. Keyon Jones, Mychal Word, Julian Reddy, and Joe Gilyard made up both relay teams.

Josh Howard recorded a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 49-01.75 feet as he missed qualifying for NCAA Regionals by just two centimeters. Ryan Hisaw earned a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 48 feet.

Seth Ilaoa recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in the discus and hammer throw. He came in seventh in the discus throw with a distance of 43.68 meters, and also came in seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.30 meters.

“I was really pleased with how well our athletes did against some tough competition,” head coach J.D. Malone said. “This is a prestigious event and our athletes did well to get some good finishes.”

The Warhawks will be back in action this week when they travel to Austin, Texas, for the Texas Relays, beginning on Wednesday and concluding on Saturday.
