Tech's Coleman and Stroy Announced as WAC Indoor Track Athletes of the Week

RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech’s Michael Coleman and Kamelia Stroy each earned Western Athletic Conference indoor track athletes of the week following their performances in last weekend’s Texas A&M Invitational Track Meet.

Coleman, a senior from Ruston, La. (Ruston HS), Finished fifth in the 60 meter dash against some of the top talent in the country at the Texas A&M Invitational with a time of 6.86.  His preliminary time of 6.84 is the best in the WAC so far this season. He also posted another conference-best in the 200 meters, running a 21.56.  The senior finished out his day with a sixth place finish as he helped the 4X400 relay team to a time of 3:12.07, a mark that broke the school’s 20-year-old record and also tops the WAC’s performance list.

Stroy, a junior from Shreveport, La. (Northwood HS), ran two conference-best times last weekend against some of the country’s best competiton.  Stroy ran a WAC best 54.95 in the 400 meters to take home an eighth place finish.  The junior also had a hand in the conference-leading 4X400 relay time of 3:41.80.  The time leads the WAC by six seconds.  Stroy also competed in the 200 meter dash and finished with a time of 24.87, the fourth best time in the WAC.

These two WAC Athlete of the Week honors gives Tech track a total of three AOW honors this indoor season.

Louisiana Tech’s Kyle Gibson earned WAC men’s basketball Player of the Week this week, while Tech’s Shanavia Dowdell earned WAC women’s basketball Player of the Week.
