Jacob Domingue leads McNeese State on Saturday at Houston Indoor

  A second by Jacob Domingue and third place efforts by distance runners David Rooney and Michael Dyer highlighted McNeese State’s performance  during the second day of the Houston Invitational indoor track and field meet on Saturday.


    All three recorded career bests.  Domingue tossed the shot 54-2 ¾, Rooney posted a 4:17.30 in the one mile run and Dyer ran 1:56.56 in the 800 meter run.


    The top effort for the Cowgirls during the day was a fourth place by
Christi McRae in the 200 meters.  She posted a 24.99 clocking, just shy of the school record she recorded a couple of weeks ago in Arkansas.
McRae also finished 10th in the 60 meter dash with a 7.73 clocking.


    Cowboy freshman Jim Marcantel wrapped up his inaugural participation in the men’s heptathlon with an 11th place finish.  On Saturday he finished fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with an 8.95 clocking, was fifth in the pole vault at 12-3 ½ and was ninth in the 1000 meter run at 3:03.51.


    That gave him a total of 4,098 points in the seven event classic.  The winning score was 5,019.


    Other efforts for the Cowboys had Charles Jackson placing 10th in the 60 meter dash with a 6.92 timing and 15th in the 200 at 22.91, Torian Lindsey clocking 22.67 for 11th in the 200, Ronald Stine getting 22.78 for 12th in the 200 meters, Ryan Barrow running 4:28.61 for 13th place in the one mile, Aaron Debourge posting a 51.7 for 18th in the 400 meters, Kenneth Pierce running 2:02.43 in the 800 meters, Michael Washington going 2:0.80 and Johnathan Koenck with an 8:54.52 for 16th in the 3000 meters, Kevin Laughlin 9:08.28 for 19th and Jarrett LeBlanc wih a 9:11.39 for 26th place.


    For the Cowgirls, Whitney McKinnie ran seventh in the 400 meters at 58.04 and was 12th in the 200 meters in 25.90 while DeAnn Washington was 12th in the shot at 39-3 and Amber Kelly was 19th at 37-8 ¾; Aisling Casey ran 5:36.90 for 20th in the mile while Cassie Wilburn turned in a 5:38.10 and Candice McCormick a 5:58.41; and Christi Citizen ran 2:24.97 for 23rd place in the 800 meters.  Also in the 800, D’Anna Lambert ran 2:28.03, Amy Guinn ran 2:298.17, Casey 2:36.49 and Cassie Wilbur 2:38.52.
