Cajuns in Day 2 of SBC Championships

DENTON, Texas-Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in Day 2 of the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Saturday. After Day 2 action, the men are in ninth place, while the women are in 11th place.

 

The UL men have scored seven points in the meet, and the women have scored five.

 

In men’s action, Jordan Folse earned three points in the discus throw with his mark of 148 feet, 9 inches.  Hebert earned two points for the Cajuns after he placed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:05.82. Ben Leonards captured a seventh-place finish and two points in the shot put with his mark of 47 feet, 5 1/4 inches.

 

Roderick Houston qualified for the championship finals in the 100-meter dash after he posted a time of 10.48 seconds. Houston also qualified in the 200-meter dash with his time of 21.48 seconds.

 

Louis Stevens advanced to the finals in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 14.66 seconds. Stacey Fuller advanced in the 400-meter hurdles after recording a time of 53.86 seconds.

 

In women’s action, Casey Brown earned the five points for the Cajuns after she placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Brown recorded a time of 11:39.93.

 

Paula Parker qualified for the finals in the 800-meter run after she recorded a prelim-time of 2:20.31.

 

Quantisha Rambo and Jasmine Anderson both qualified in the 100-meter hurdles. Rambo recorded a time of 14.49 seconds and Anderson recorded a time of 14.56 seconds. Taryn Simmons placed second in the 400-meter hurdles prelims to advance to the finals. Simmons posted a time of 1:01.70.

 

The SBC Championships conclude on Sunday.
