ULM Track and Field Enjoys 15 Top Finishes at Warhawk Classic

MONROE, La. In spite of a minor rain delay, the ULM track and field team enjoyed an outstanding day hosting the Warhawk Classic and claimed 15 top finishes, including 13 on the women’s side at Groseclose Track on Saturday.

Junior Destiny Montemayor qualified for the regional meet in the discus throw after picking up a toss of 47.43 meters. Montemayor also finished first in the hammer throw with a toss of 57.03 meters continuing her record-setting outdoor season.

The ULM women were particularly strong in the running events, claiming victories in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays as well as wins in six of the nine individual track events. Bola Shoyebi tallied top overall finishes in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

On the men’s side, the 4x400 meter relay team as well as freshman javelin thrower Kyle Kent each finished with top finishes for the Warhawks.

ULM will return to action on Wednesday, April 30 when it takes a partial squad to the Bob Cole Twilight Classic in Lafayette, La. ULM will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships in Denton, Texas starting on May 9.
