Rew's win leads impressive showing at LSU

BATON ROUGE – Northwestern State sophomore Trecey Rew won the women’s shot put in  a 49-6 1/2 throw Saturday at the LSU Tiger Relays track and field meet.
 
Trecey Rew won again at LSU Rew’s mark easily enhanced her regional qualifying status and outdistanced the field by more than four feet.  It was less than three inches shy of her personal best, set  when she won the Southland Conference Indoor title in 49-9 1/4, setting the school record in February. She also owns the school discus record.
 
Rew was second in the women’s discus, with a 150-11 throw that was 11 inches shy of her school mark.
 
Chad Leath, a senior,  ran second in the men’s 400 hurdles, running a personal best 51.93 that shaved time off the 52.19 time that was 11th-ranked nationally last week,  early in the season. It enhanced his regional and national ranking. LSU’s Patrick Lee won in 51.89.

Leath  took seventh in the 110 meter hurdles final in 15.14.
 
The Lady Demons were second in the 4x200 relay in 1:37.31, and the NSU men took third in the 4x200 in 1:26.99.
 
Dawn Comeaux gave the Lady Demons third in the javelin at 139-5.
 
NSU was fourth in both 4x100 relays. The men ran 41.66 and the women ran 46.44.
 
The Demons’s Nathaniel McReynolds took third in the men’s 3000 steeplechase in a 10:33.91 time, 18 seconds behind the winning mark.
 
The Lady Demons’ 1600 sprint medley team ran 3:26.92 for fourth place.
 
Shannon Foley ran a personal best of 1:03.55 for fourth in the women’s 400 meter hurdles.
 
Charles Jackson was fifth in the men’s 100 meter dash (10.88).
