FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Senior Nadia Alexander followed Al Fullwood's lead from yesterday by breaking the school record in the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 7.50 inches for a collegiate fourth-place finish and the top mark in the conference. The throw is made even more impressive by the fact she improved her NCAA Provisional Mark by over a foot and half and ranks her tenth in the nation.
Alexander broke her own record of 52-6.50 set back at the conference championships last in Boise, Idaho. Fullwood's 47.42 time yesterday shattered the 13-year-old record in the 400 set by Lamont Leach.
"It was an excellent day for us," Tech head coach Gary Stanley said. "We had some great marks today all around. I was also very pleased with our (men's and women's) 4x400 efforts which are the top marks in the conference."
Fullwood did not stop there. He also ran the second best time in the WAC at 21.52 in the men's 200, while in the women's 200, senior Lasadies McClain improved her top conference mark with a 24.32 effort.
The 4x400 relay teams ran top times in the conference with the women clocking in at 3:46.91 while the men finished with a 3:14.95 time.
Yesterday, senior Cory Denstel also took a good finish in the mile with a 4:16.88 effort, while on the Techster side, both junior El Charrita Reynolds and Kamelia Stroy finished with solid times in the women's 400 at 56.02 and 56.83, respectively.
Tech will return to action in two weeks for the 2008 Indoor Conference Championships in Boise, Idaho.
