ULM Track & Field Rewrites the Record Books at the LSU Combined Event

BATON ROUGE, La.—The ULM track & field team rewrote the record books this weekend at the LSU Combined Event claiming three school records and setting 17 personal bests.

“We had a good weekend,” ULM head coach J.D. Malone said. “Even though we set a lot of personal bests we still have a ways to go, but that is promising because we are progressing and getting better.”

Destiny Montemayor set the school mark in the weight throw, while Brittany Culver and Sarah O’Neal set the ULM record in the 60m hurdles and in the pole vault, respectively.

Montemayor was the top collegiate finisher in the weight throw by over four feet throwing 58-11.50 feet.

O’Neal’s vault of 11-03.75 feet on her fifth attempt was good for third place finishing just behind a pair of LSU vaulters. Culver’s school record time of 8.91 gave her a fourth place finish overall and a second place finish among collegiate athletes in the 60m hurdles.

Heather Davis finished second in the high jump with a leap of 5-08.50 feet, while Brittany Blackmon finished second among collegiate athletes in the mile run with a time of 5:20.22.
