KEMBOI LEADS LIONS AT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE INVITATIONAL

CLINTON, Miss. -Southeastern Louisiana's Kalphys Kemboi won the individual title to lead the Lions at the Mississippi College Invitational at the Choctaw Trails on Saturday.

Kemboi won the individual men's crown with a time of 25:13.08 over the 8K course. Kemboi led Southeastern to a second place finish. Grambling won the team title, followed by the Lions, Nicholls State, Alcorn State, Southern and Mississippi Valley State.

Kemboi was one of two Lions to finish in the top 10. Shane Raynors finished seventh with a time of 27:26.32. Other Southeastern finishes were Zach Duferene (29:08.06, 19th), Rosendo Vallejos (29:11.89, 20th), Mitchell Katengell (30:59.40, 38th) and Ray Rodriguez (35:23.06, 45th).

"We were very pleased with our efforts today, especially at the top part of our lineup," Southeastern head coach Sean Brady stated. "This was a good effort to get us prepared for the Southland Conference Championships."

The Lions will next be in action at the SLC Championships. The league meet is scheduled for October 27 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
