How has your summer been and what have you been up to?
My summer has been going pretty good so far. I have been spending time with my family and hopefully I will travel to California for a vacation. I have been volunteering at a local track club in Shreveport-Bossier City. River Cities Track Club gave me my first taste of track stardom. So I'm giving back by helping teenagers and pre-teens with their start like I needed when I was their age.
What are your expectations for the team and yourself for the 2007-2008 season?
We are losing three big seniors Maya Aden, Walt Williams, and Nate Hall. They really carried the team on their backs last year by giving us big points. Everyone else is coming back this year; our 4x4 should carry the team on the National spotlight. We have some great freshmen throwers, jumpers, and hurdlers coming in next year with great talent. I'm focusing this year on my 400 hurdles start. I also want to try out the 200 to work on my speed. I love the 400 and I am looking to drop a second or two from my 400m time in the open.
Is there an opponent you are most looking forward to running against?
I love running against Louisiana Tech, they always give us a run for our money. I grew up with those guys and even though we took separate paths for college, we still support each other every time we're at a track meet.
If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
I would love to play basketball, and I think I am pretty good. I played point guard in high school. I love playing defense and giving out assists to my fellow teammates.
What is your favorite track and field memory?
I have two favorite track memories so far. My first favorite track memory was my freshmen year at Texas Relays. God allowed me to split a really fast time in front of 50,000 people and my dad. Even though we didn't win, I was just excited that I finally got a chance to run at the famous Texas Relays. My second favorite track memory from this year was at the Warhawk Track Classic home meet. The 4x4 qualified for regional with a time of 3:09. Coach Malone was jumping & screaming at the top of his lungs.
What is something you learned from the team's first year in the Sun Belt Conference?
That we have to earn our respect and nobody is going to give to. The Sun Belt is a tough conference; I think we can get the number one spot this year. I've got to get some revenge on what happen last year during the 4x4.
Other than track, what are your hobbies?
I love collecting Dallas Cowboys items. My whole room back home in Bossier City is filled with Dallas Cowboys pictures, autographs, and other items.
What is one of your favorite foods to eat?
My favorite food is pizza. I love pizza every since I was young I would do anything for some pepperoni pizza like Michelangelo of the Ninja Turtles.
What city are you from?
I'm from Bossier City, Louisiana. I know my teammates get tired of me saying that at practice, but I got to let them know where I'm from (YEA BOY). Everybody says Shreveport and Bossier are the same place, but that's not true because they are two different parishes with different mayors.
Have you contacted any of your teammates this summer?
Yes, I tried to stay in contact with most of my teammates because they are just like family. Families have to stay together.
