Girl's Distance weekend in review: The girl's distance weekend simply put can be summarized as "Simone Dominque." Despite a small stature , this girl continues to dominate and is literally running over her competetiton as she tops the leader board in the mile and 2 mile for the state running a blistering 5:27/11:47 double at the Cecilia Relays. Another notable peformance this wekeend came from Redemptorist's junior Cierra Johnson recording a 2:22 over the 800 meter distance at the St. Thomas Acquinas Season Opener.
Boys Distance Weekend in Review: The boys weekend can be described as the weekend of the newcomers, as we saw two relatively new runners make their bid to Louisiana's elite. Catholic SR Brian Lumpkins a mild 17:20 miler from xc wasted no time in his bid to the elite as he took the Catholic tip off title with a 4:32 1600 outlasting teammate Patrick Walker who just missed making the list himself. Another newcomer, Cory Richard a senior at Notre Dame High burst onto the scene with a 1:59 800 at the Cecilia Bulldog Relays. In the race for the 3200 Alex Breaux continued to show consistency from indoors as he blazed a 9:39 3200 at the Pepsi Relays in Thibodaux while Catholic High's Mark Primeaux recorded a 9:54 at their home meet in Baton Rouge.

Opening weekend saw a few meets go unreported (Ponchatoula, ED White, and the Catholic League Opener at Tad Gormley Stadium). To help prevent this problem from taking place in the future please note the meets that will be taking place this weekend.
