Local Track and Field MS athletes competed in Saturday’s Trafton Academy Season Opener

 

Local Track and Field athletes competed in Saturday’s Trafton Academy Season Opener held at the Southeastern Track and Field Complex in Hammond.  

The First Baptist girls edged-out the Walker girls (41.5-40) to capture the Sub-Elementary girls division,  while St. Joseph was third(30),  Trafton Academy fourth(26),  Hammond Westside fifth(24)  and Mater Dolorosa sixth(23.5).  Hammond’s Layla Williams won the 800 meters(3:01.69) and was second in the 200(36.27).  MDS’s Kaylyn Jackson was the 400 meter champion(1:41.86) and placed third in the 55(10.37).  TA’s Emma Nicaud was second in the 55(10.06) and third in the 100(18.07),  while SJS’s Abby Dagro was second in the 400(1:48.02) and teammate Emily Monistere was second in the 800(4:02.05) and Dagro,  Monistere,  Cheslea Bishop  and Madison Christian won the 400 meter relay for SJS(1:27.58).

The Trafton boys captured the Sub-Elementary division with (66),  St. Joseph was second(53),  Mater Dolorosa third(52),  Walker fourth(24),  Albany Elementary fifth(16),  Hammond Westside sixth(9)  and First Baptist seventh(1).  Trafton’s Jace Caves led the team with a pair of wins in the 55(9.93) and 400(1:25.62) and was third in the 100(17.47) and 200(37.87),  while teammate Cater David Rainey was second in the 400(1:29.89).  The Trafton boys 400 meter relay team of(Rainey, Rainey, Cuti and Vinet) earned the gold medal (1:16.67).  SJS’s Easton Romano was a double winner in the 100(16.40) and 200(35.65),  MDS’s Brayden Gillies won the long jump(7-01.50) and shot put(13-03) and teammate Jabari Jackson was second in the 55(10.11) and 100(17.28).  

The Trafton girls dominated the Elementary division with a score of (98) to runner-up First Baptist with (58),  Mater Dolorosa was third(14),  Hammond Westside fourth(10)  and St. Joseph fifth(6).  Trafton’s Breanna Becerra was a four event winner in the long jump(12-09),  200(33.38),  400(1:15.48) and 800(2:50.96).  TA’s Presley Walls was the shot put winner(19-02) and was second in the 400(1:18.60),  100(16.56) and 200(34.78),  while Taylor McGovern won the high jump(3-0) and was third in the long jump(5-07.25) and Jourdan St. Romain was second in the 800(3:00.16) and third in the 200(35.31) for the Lady Eagles.  MDS’s Markeia Baham was second in the long jump(8-02.75).

The Trafton boys easily won the Elementary division with (90),  Walker was second(41),  Mary Queen of Peace third(26),  MDS fourth(21),  SJS fifth() and Hammond sixth(1).  Kollin Poche was a triple winner in the long jump(10-10.25),  400(1:13.89) and 800(2:40.57),  Konner Poche was the high jump(3-10) and 200(31.38) winner and was second in the 100(14.93) and Bryson Lester won the 100(14.84) and was second in the 200(31.60),  while Timothy Lacoste was fourth in the 400(1:24.28).  The TA 400 meter relay team of: Poche,  Poche,  Lester and Lacoste ran a winning time of(1:00.85).  MDS’s Earl Jackson won the shot put(22-07).

The Trafton girls won the Middle School team title with (110),  Holy Ghost was second(47),  St. Joseph third(43),  First Baptist fourth(40),  Albany fifth(30),  Belle Chasse Academy sixth(19),  Mater Dolorosa seventh(5)  and Hammond Westside eighth(2).  Paula Harvey and Madelyn Nicaud led the Trafton girls with a pair of wins,  Harvey was the sprint double winner in the 100(14.67) and 200(31.93),  while Nicaud was the mid-distance double winner in the 400(1:15.91) and 800(2:51.06).  Marley Vinet placed second in the long jump(11-01.50),  100(15.58)  and 200(33.61),  Lexie Anderson won the high jump(3-04),  while Rainey,  Harvey,  Becerra,  Vinet captured the gold medal in the 400 meter relay(1:04.49) and Nicaud,  Becerra,  Walls and Rainey won the 1600 meter relay(5:20.51).  HGS’s McKenzie Bordock was a double winner in the shot put(30-01) and discus(73-03),  while teammate Hannah Lyons won the 1600(6:44.28) and was second in the 800(3:13.84). SJS’s Madison Gill was the long jump champion(11-04.50)  

Belle Chasse Academy won the Middle School boys division(82),  Trafton was second(59),  St. Joseph third(54),  Albany MS fourth(35),  Mary Queen of Peace fifth(32),  Walker sixth(26),  First Baptist seventh(20)  and MDS eighth(14).  Trafton’s Dante Thomas was a double winner in the long jump(15-02.50) and high jump(4-04) and was third in the 55 meter hurdles(11.65) and 100(13.85),  teammate Mason Thompson won the 800(2:48.21) and was second in the 1600(6:22.39).  SJS’s Gabe Hester won the discus(58-07) and was third in the shot put(19-0),  while Logan Henley was second in the discus(46-07) and shot put(21-03) and Cody Majeau was second in the long jump(12-08.50).  

Belle Chasse Academy won the Junior High girls team title with (86),  Belle Chasse MS was second(77),  St. Joseph third(69),  Trafton fourth(61),  Archbishop Chapelle fifth(48),  PCA sixth(28),  Albany MS seventh(10)  and HGS eighth(2).  SJS’s Allie Amerson was a double winner in the 400(1:14.92) and javelin(76-03),  and also joined Nuzzolillo,  O’Dowd and Lesaicherre on the winning 400 meter relay(1:00.23) and O’Dowd also posted a second place finish in the 400(1:15.11) and Nuzzolillo was the 55 meter hurdle winner(10.68) and was third in the long jump(13-0)Trafton got a 1-2-3 finish in the 800 meters,  Abby Bates was the winner in (2:38.10),  Maggie Crawford was second(2:39.61)  and Taylor Cardarenella was third(2:40.94) and the 800 meter relay team of Wilks,  Bates,  Cardarenella and Crawford won in (2:01.43).    TA’s Bailey Sharp won the shot put(21-0) and was third in the discus(37-11).  

Belle Chasse Academy won the JH boys division with (148),  Belle Chasse MS was second(80),  Trafton third(73),  Nesom fourth(62),  St. Joseph fifth(40),  Albany MS sixth(31),  HGS seventh(30)  and Mary Queen of Peace eighth(8).  Trafton’s Victor Harvey won the 400(59.09) and 800(2:26.53),  Dylan Dunaway was the 1600 champion(5:32.18) and was second in the 800(2:29.33),  Dawson Gildig won the 3200(13:19.39) and was second in the 1600(5:54.66), John Ross Donnes was third in the 800(2:40.61) and Luke Sweeney was third in the javelin(89-02).  SJS’s Brett Monistere won the javelin(92-06), while HGS’s Will Hetzinger won the 55 meter hurdles(9.25) and Jude Vitrano was second in the long jump(14-11).
