Birmingham, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field teams completed day one of the 2014 Southland Conference Indoor Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex. The men's squad are in first place, while the women sit at 7th.
"We knocked it out of the park tonight," said head coach Sean Brady. "Our guys see that it's in their grasp, and they're ready to go."
Clarence Robinson (2.06m) placed first in the men's high jump, while Kadarius Williams came in second (2.03m).
Southeastern finished one, two, four, and five in the men's shot put, with senior Jeffrey Milliron making the winning toss of fifty-six feet, sixty six inches. Brett Olsen (53-28.00) came in second, while Jimmy LeBlanc (51-31.00) and Jonathan Kinchen (49-54.00) came in fourth and fifth respectively.
Second-place finishes included junior Brianna Golden (59-31.75) in the women's weight throw and Brandon Daniels (24-37.66) in the men's long jump.
Tarvoris Mack and Collin Rowland competed in the men's heptathlon. Mack placed third in two events (long jump, 21-09.58; shot put, 40-45.27), as Rowland placed second in the men's shot put (40-58.39).
Day two of the Southland Conference Indoor Championships continue on Thursday.
