BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – For the second time in as many weeks, McNeese State senior sprinter Jasmine Webb etched her name in the school record book when she clocked in a 7.59 time for a second place finish in the 60-meter dash at the Samford Multi and Invitational on Saturday.
Her time beat her own record of 7.60 set last season and comes one week after she set a new school record in the 55-meters.
Senior thrower La'Shantena Rounds continues to improve in the shot put event each week and flirted with the school record after a second place throw of 48-00. On Friday, she won the weight event for the fourth consecutive week.
On the men's side, senior Tristan Joynes won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.09 which is a new personal record and the fastest time in the Southland Conference this season.
Freshman thrower Hiram Morales placed second in the shot put with a personal record mark of 52-11, a distance that currently ranks third in the conference.
Several other athletes recorded personal bests over the weekend.
Webb ran an indoor PR in the 200 meters with a time of 24.92 and ranks fifth in the SLC while Danielle Epps clocked in with a PR time of 25.43 in the same event.
Kaitlyn Jeter clocked a personal best time in the 800 meters at 2:21.44.
On the men's side, Dakota Breaux cleared 14-9 in the pole vault for a PR while Matt Simmons marked out with a PR in the shot put at 47-7.75. Two Cowboys posted PRs in the 1-mile run – Oliver James at 4:18.95 and Alex Evans with a 4:23.60.
Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls will be back in action on Friday when they host the third of three indoor meets this season with the McNeese Indoor III.
