Frazier Sets New School Record in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Al. – A record-setting performance from sophomore thrower Misha Frazier was one of the six first-place finishes that paced the Southeastern Louisiana University's track and field teams at the Southern Miss Invitational on Thursday.

The meet, held in the Birmingham Crossplex Arena in Alabama, hosted 18 schools from across the country.

Frazier set a new school record in the women's indoor shot put with a toss of 46 feet, eight inches. She also claimed the top spot in the women's weight throw (57-05.75), finishing just ahead of teammate Brianna Golden (55-02.25), who placed second.

The men's group of throwers continued their claim on top-five performances in both the shot put and weight throw. Jeffrey Milliron (58-01.25) led the group in the shot, while Brett Olsen (55-04.75), Jonathan Kinchen (51-03.50), and Jimmy LeBlanc (49-09.25) finished 2nd, 3rd, and 5th respectively.

Olsen took first in the weight throw, leading the men's group for the second week in a row. The junior tossed for 65 feet, 3.25 inches while Kinchen (2nd, 62-10.50), Milliron (3rd, 61-11.75), and LeBlanc (5th, 53-11.75) finished close behind.

Brandon Daniels won the men's long jump (23-09.50), while Kadarius Williams tied for first in the high jump (6-08.75).

The group of Lady Lion pole-vaulters rounded out the top-ten in their event, as Sharon Ann Ourso placed third with a mark of eleven feet, 7.75 inches. Addison Martinez(11-07.75), Whitney Adams (11-01.75), and Katelyn Whitekiller (11-01.75) finished right behind Ourso, coming in 4th, 5th, and 6th respectively.

Other top-three performances included: Domonique White in the women's 400-meter dash (3rd, 57.44 seconds), Alex Holden (2nd, 1:58.04) and Harry Wiggins (3rd, 1:58.16) in the men's 800-meter run, and Clarence Robinson in the men's high jump (3rd, 6-06.75)

The Lions and Lady Lions are set to compete next in the McNeese Indoor Invitational III in Lake Charles on February 15th.
