Parkway girls and West Monroe Boys win large school division at Menard Invitational

Alison Ringle led from the gun in the large school division of the Menard Invitational Saturday. Ringle finished with an outstanding time of 18:07 for the three-mile course. She was followed by Kaitlin Tanner of Loyola College Prep in 18:29 and Kellie Webb of Barbe in 19:18. Parkway dominated team results with five girls in the top ten. Parkway finished first with 29 points. Coach Kent Falting (Parkway) wanted his girls to go out strong. “We had a goal to have our top 6 in the top 15 at the first mile and they were all in the top ten,” said Coach Falting, “It was great to see them maintain the pace throughout the meet.” St. Thomas More finished second in the large school girls division with 105 points, followed by the Barbe Lady Bucs with 131 points.

In the large school boys division, West Monroe finished first with 56 points. James Turner led the Rebels with a first place finish, clocking a 15:24 over the hilly three-mile course. James Turner, Hayden Kingfisher (Parkway), Daniel Tanner (Byrd), and Jack Wilkes (Airline) all reached the first mile in 5:00. Wilkes and Tanner fell off the place, leaving Turner and Kingfisher battling. Turner slowly pulled away over the last mile to beat Kingfisher by four seconds. Jack Wilkes (Airline) finished in third place with a time of 15:55.  Wilkes help lead Airline to a second place finish, scoring 102 points.
