Holy Ghost, Sumner win Junior High titles at the 2013 Trafton Invitational


Trafton’s Layla Williams captured the Sub-Elementary girls half-mile race,  St. Joseph’s Jayda Babin won the Elementary girls one mile race,  Trafton’s Kollin Poche was the Elementary and Middle School boys winner,  while Trafton’s Emma Littell and Dylan Dunaway captured the Junior High two mile titles in this week’s Trafton Cross Country Invitational held at the St. Thomas Aquinas High School Cross Country Course in Hammond. A total of 493 runners from nineteen different schools competed in the two day event at STA.  The top fifteen finishers in each race earned medals,  while the first place team finisher was awarded a championship trophy.

St. Peter won the Sub-Elementary girls division with (42),  Trafton Academy was second(81),  Holden third(86),  St. Joseph’s fourth(91),  Sumner fifth(93) and Cedarwood sixth(114).  Williams captured the individual title in (3:12),  while teammate Emma Nicaud was second(3:25),  Marley Richard(SJS) was third(3:28),  Mariah Robertson(Sumner) was fourth(3:31),  Kaleigh Stewart(Holden) eighth(3:42),  Sydney Gill(TA) ninth(3:44),  Bronwyn Brown(HGS) eleventh(3:48),  Madison Christian(SJS) thirteenth(3:54) and Holden’s Ava Roussel was 15th(3:59).  Trafton’s Carlea Gill(57th-4:50) and Jessie Wells(62nd-5:02) helped Trafton post a second place team finish.

St. Peter won the Sub-Elementary boys division with (19),  Sumner was second(67),  St. Joseph’s third(74) and Holden fourth(78).  Evan King(South Walker) was the individual winner in(3:17),  while Trafton’s Jace Caves was third(3:21),  SJS’s Ethan Laurent was seventh(3:29),  Taylor Purvis(Albany Upper Elementary) was eleventh(3:36),  Dominick Vinet(TA) twelfth(3:38) and Lance Cambre(HGS) was fourteenth(3:41).  

St. Joseph’s won the Elementary girls team title with(42),  Lake Castle was second(69),  Sumner third(84),  St. Peter fourth(88),  Holden fifth(90) and Levi Milton sixth(116).  St. Joseph fourth grader Jayda Babin led the way with the individual win in (6:44),  while teammates Jadyn Richard(3rd-6:53),  Hannah Bankston(15th-7:31),  Hannah Habisreitinger(18th-7:57) and Helena Cieutat(26th-8:32) were part of the winning team.  Also earning medals were:  Jada Clark(TA) 7th(6:59),  Madeline Richardson(Holden) 8th(7:02),  Molly Blades(Sumner) 9th(7:08) and Abbie Parrish(TA) 12th(7:09).

Lake Castle won the Elementary boys division(43),  Christ Episcopal was second(60),  Holy Ghost third(79),  Sumner fourth(85),  Levi Milton fifth(100)  and St. Peter sixth(128).  Trafton’s Kollin Poche was the individual winner in (5:50),  while brother Konnor Poche(TA) was third(6:00),  Taylor Easley(Sumner) was fifth(6:16),  Daelyn Haney(Sumner) sixth(6:18),  Brandt Jones(HGS) tenth(6:30),  Carson Thibodeaux(SJS) twelfth(6:32) and Trafton’s Timothy Lacoste was fifteenth(6:40).  

The Trafton Academy girls dominated the Middle School division to score (22) over runner-up St. Joseph with (55),  Sumner was third(56)  and St. Peter fourth(103).  Cedarwood’s Kimberly Dobie was the individual winner in (6:04),  while PCA’s Lilly Maggio was second(6:11),  while Trafton’s Madelyn Nicaud was third(6:14) and teammate Breanna Becerra fourth(6:25).  Abby Hodges(Sumner) was fifth(6:44),  Presley Walls(TA) sixth(6:47), Haley Meyers(Albany MS) seventh(6:52),  Sadie McDonald(Sumner) ninth(6:54),  Jourdan St. Romain(TA) tenth(6:56),  Olivia Rainey(TA) twelfth(6:58),  Hannah Lyons(HGS) thirteenth(6:59),  Paige Bankston(SJS) fourteenth(7:03)  and SJS’s Madison Gill was fifteenth(7:09).  Also joining the Trafton girls in the team victory were:  Abbie Parrish(22nd-7:27),  Caroline Eschete(28th-7:50),  Marley Vinet(29th-7:53),  Evyn Schiro(39th-8:44),  Ania Christian(42nd-9:10) and Rebekah Pesson(43rd-9:15).

Sumner won the Middle School boys division with (54),  just ahead of runner-up Christ Episcopal with(57),  and Trafton  followed closely at third(64),  Holy Ghost was fourth(118),  St. Peter fifth(143),  Levi Milton sixth(152),  Lake Castle seventh(157)  and St. Joseph’s eighth(170).  Trafton’s Kollin Poche was the individual champion in (5:43), a new seasonal best,  just ahead of Kehoe France’s Harrison Elliott(5:46) at the second position.  Mason Thompson(TA) was third(5:58),  Konnor Poche(TA) was fourth(5:59),  Garrett Landry(Albany MS) 12th(6:22),  Colby Sloan(Sumner) 13th(6:23),  Nick Story(Sumner) 14th(6:24)  and Colby Russell(Sumner) 15th(6:25) also medaled. 

Sumner captured the Junior High girls team title with (35),  St. Joseph’s was second(40)  and St. Peter was third(51).  Trafton’s Emma Littell led the way with a two mile winning time of(13:14), finishing seventy seconds ahead of second place finisher Tristan Frilloux(Albany MS) at the second position(14:23).  Leah Warner(Sumner) was third(14:37),  Jayda Babin(SJS) was fifth(14:57), Ava St. Mard(Sumner) sixth(15:11),  Layla D’fonseca(Albany) eighth(15:14),  Emma McDonald(Sumner) ninth(15:39),  Peyton Lesaicherre(SJS) tenth(15:42),  Skylar Richardson(Albany) eleventh(15:54),  Jadyn Richard(SJS) twelfth(16:13),  Destinee Gray(Sumner) thirteenth(16:21) and Leigh Henderson(SJS) was fourteenth(16:21).  

Holy Ghost edged-out the Albany Middle School team (29-32) to win the Junior High boys division,  while French Settlement was third(74),  Lake Castle fourth(110)  and St. Peter fifth(124).  Trafton’s Dylan Dunaway was the individual winner in (12:45),  while teammate Dawson Gildig was second(12:58),  Jude Vitrano(HGS) was third(13:01),  Leo DuPlooy(HGS) fourth(13:02),  Drew Thompson(Albany) fifth(13:03),  Logan Lucas(Albany) sixth(13:05),  Joey Edwards(Sumner) seventh(13:29),  Wayne Hubert(Albany) tenth(13:41),  Ethan Trinh(TA) eleventh(13:56),  Ethan Jackson(HGS) twelfth(14:03),  Steven Kuhn(Albany) thirteenth(14:05) and James Pesson(TA) was fourteenth(14:09).  Also joining the winning HGS team were:  Tyler Pierce 16th(14:11),  Cole Tallo 17th(14:13) and Jessie Patton 27th(15:08).
