Cowboys Win McNeese Stampede...Cowgirls Place Third

The Cowboys had seven of the top 10 finishers including the top 3 finishers.  McNeese's Junior Alex Kiptoo won the 4-mile race with a time of 19:39.38.  Alex Bruce-Littlewoodcame in second with a time of 19:52.92 and Ryan Holroyd was third with a time of 19:55.34.  Other top 10 finishers for the Cowboys were Luke Johnston finishing in fifth place (20:06.73), Nicholas Kiprono finished in sixth place (20:16.20), Stephen Kerr finished in seventh place (20:19.38) and Matthew Stephenson finished in 10th place (20:34.02). 
    
Tulane won the women's 5K race while the Cowgirls placed third behind LSU's "A" team.  Nicholls' Tessni Carruthers was the individual champion with a time of 17:51.55 and McNeese's Amy Talbot placed second with a time of 18:02.31.  Other Cowgirl scoring came from Laura Casey (10th/19:19.47), Alison Smegal (16th/19:44.82), Angelina Covington (20th/19:53.37), Lauren Cooper (21st/19:54.99), Kaitlyn Jeter (26th/20:17.59), Danielle Jones (27th/20:27.36) and Corissa Storms (31th/20:37.00).
    
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will conclude their regular season on Oct. 19 with some athletes taking part in the Mississippi College Choctaw Open and some traveling to the Indiana State pre-National Invitational.
