ARLINGTON, Texas – Janae Allen, Jessica Talley, Hanoj Carter and Lionel Ellison all had strong performances in their individual events to help lead the Northwestern State track and field teams as they competed at Texas-Arlington's Bobby Lane Invitational on Saturday at Maverick Stadium.
The Demons and Lady Demons combined for a total of 13 top three performances in 12 different events.
Allen, a senior, dominated in the discus and hammer throw for the third straight week, finishing first in the hammer (168-05) and third in the discus (158-10).
In her second outing of the season, Talley won the javelin with a mark of 148-08, improving by almost four feet from last weekend.
Sarah Jones also performed well for the Lady Demons, placing second in the long jump (18-10) and triple jump (39-00.50).
Quiana Griffin led the women's sprint group, finishing the 400m dash in 55.58 and placing third.
Ali Fontenot had a strong finish in her first 3000m steeplechase of the season, placing third with a time of 11:40.66.
On the men's side, Carter won the 200m dash for the second consecutive week, crossing the finish line in 21.18.
Ellison set yet another personal-record in the high jump, clearing 6-08.75 and finishing second.
Alex Washington tied his personal-best in the high jump, clearing a height of 6-04.75 for a third place finish.
Emmanuel and Aaron Williams led the men's jumps group as Emmanuel placed second in the long jump (23-10.75) and Aaron placed second in the triple jump (45-11.75).
The men's 4x100 relay team of Justin Walker, Carter, Gabriel White and Kendal Taylor finished second overall and first amongst collegiate competitors with a time of 40.38.
