MileSplit LA Future Star: Neville's Bayleigh Byrd!


This week's MileSplit LA Future Star is incoming Neville freshman Bayleigh Byrd, who has been running this summer with the MADE Track Club. In June, Byrd finished on the podium in both the 100m and 200m in the 14-year old girls division at the AAU Region 11 Qualifier in Hammond. Byrd finished third in the 100m with a 12.81. She finished second in the 200m with a 26.50. 

MileSplit LA: What is your favorite thing to do when you are not practicing or competing in track and field?

Bayleigh: Cheer

MileSplit LA: What do you love the most about track and field?

Bayleigh: Competing in track meets.

MileSplit LA: What track meet or race are you most proud of? Why? What place did you get? What was your time?

Bayleigh: Regionals, because last year was my first time running and I came in 6th. This year, I found my way to 2nd. I've won first in every meet from school to regionals. But it was my most prized experience

MileSplit LA: What is your favorite event  and why? What is you PR?

Bayleigh: 100m (12.80)  and 200m (26.5) 

MileSplit LA: What are your goals for this season?

Bayleigh: To get in the 11s for 100m and 25s for 200m

MileSplit LA: Who are some of the people who have helped you to this point in your track and field career and how have they helped you?

Bayleigh: Coach Joe Byrd and my mom. Training and motivation.

MileSplit LA: How long have you been competing in track and field?

Bayleigh: This is my second season.
