Jackson, Miss. - Loyola's Matt Cagigal and Mary Erin Imwalle each won individual championships at Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at the Choctaw Trails on Saturday morning.


Cagigal won the men's championship completing the eight kilometer meet with a time of 27:04.07. Teammate Richard Bouckaert was second with a time of 27:19.18. Other Wolfpack competitors in the men's meet were Tyler Kaufman with a time of 32:40.46 (18th place), Zach Custer, 33:35.04 (20th place), and Chris Tyree, 34:02.05 (21st place).


Loyola's men's team came in third place in the team category. The Wolfpack had 62 points. Xavier came in first with 37 and Spring Hill was second with 38.


In the women's championships, Imwalle was first across the line with a time of 20:49.12. Ashley Sutton was the next Wolfpack runner to complete the five kilometer course with a time of 23:50.24 for 13th place. Other women finishers for Loyola included Rebecca Reed, 24:76.16 (15th place), Rachel Nuwer 24:35.00 (17th place), Emily Reed 24:39.11 (19th place), Jenna Harris 25:57.07 (22nd place), and Annie McBride 26:41.08 (24th place).


Loyola finished in third place in the team standings. The Wolfpack scored 65 points. Xavier was the women's champion with 26 points and Spring Hill placed second with 57 points.
