St. Michael High School Bayou Boogie Classic Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023
Dear Cross Country Coach,
St. Michael High School is hosting its 23rd annual Bayou Boogie Classic on Saturday, Sept. 2nd at Highland Rd. Park in Baton Rouge, LA.
There will be T-shirts and medals awarded to the top 20 runners in each varsity race and T-shirts awarded to the top 10 runners in each junior varsity race. Trophies to the top 3 teams in the varsity races. The competition at this event is always among the best in the state.
Only advance registration will be accepted. No race day registration is allowed. No fax, phone calls, or mailed registration will be accepted.
Coaches are required to register their top 12 athletes for each race at Athletic.net or La.milesplit.com by August 29th no later than 6:00 pm.
High school runners who fail to meet the registration deadline of August 29th or not in their schools top 12 group will still be allowed to run in the two junior varsity races. The junior varsity race will be boys and girls combined and will be timed for the 12 athletes with bibs and scored for teams.
Only LHSAA eligible athletes are allowed to race in the two varsity and/or 2 junior varsity races. Entries in Girls and Boys Varsity races will be limited to 12. The junior varsity races can have 12 athletes registered, wearing bibs and being timed; additional athletes may also race but will not be timed.
In accordance with LHSAA instructions, high schools may not host middle school races on the same day at the same location as high school events. Consequently, St. Michael will not host a middle school race at the Bayou Boogie.
No club teams nor any athletes not associated with a LHSAA registered high school can participate.
There will be snowballs sold on-site and water supply available.
Race schedule:
8:00 a.m. Girls Varsity (12 athletes per school) 3 miles
8:45 a.m. Boys Varsity (12 athletes per school) 3 miles
9:30 a.m. Girls JV and Boys JV (only 12 athletes per school timed) 3 miles
10:15 a.m. Awards Ceremony
Any runner who has not passed the final 400-meter mark of the course five minutes before the start of the next race will be diverted so as not to cross the regular finish line. This is done to ensure the next race starts on time. In this instance, that runner will not score for the team nor have their finish time recorded.

Fees: $50 per gender per school. $100 for both genders per school max. $10 per athlete for any school with less than 5 of a gender.
