Walker boys, SSA girls win STA-Rollette Chiropractic Cross Country Invitational

 

The St. Scholastica Academy captured the Varsity girls division,  while the Walker High School boys won their respective division in Wednesday’s 2012 STA-Rollette Chiropractic Cross Country Invitational held on the St. Thomas Aquinas High School campus in Hammond.  The Trafton Academy girls and boys teams captured the Junior High divisions. 

St. Scholastica Academy won the Varsity division with (56),  just ahead of runner-up St. Thomas Aquinas with (63),  Academy of Sacred Heart-New Orleans was third(95),  Episcopal fourth(138),  East Ascension fifth(183),  Walker sixth(194),  Belle Chasse seventh(200), Metairie Park Country Day eighth(216),  Jewel Sumner ninth(217),  Zachary tenth(223),  Ponchatoula eleventh(259)  and Holden twelfth(301). Holden Junior Clarissa Smith cruised to an easy victory capturing the individual title in the Varsity girls race with a winning time of (18:21).  St. Thomas Sophomore Bobbi Amar posted a second place finish,  while St. Scholastica Academy Junior Carley Boyce was third(19:28).  Other local finishers were:  Jenna Reno(PHS) fourth(19:49),  Destiny Williams(STA) fifth(19:49),  Grace Bernard(STA) fourteenth(21:23) all earned individual honors.   

Walker high school was the Varsity boys division winner with (52),  over host St. Thomas Aquinas with (88),  Dutchtown was third(90), Ponchatoula fourth(97),  Holy Cross fifth(145),  Metairie Park Country Day sixth(153),  East Ascension seventh(157),  St. Martin’s Episcopal eighth(196),  Belle Chasse ninth(226),  Zachary tenth(289),  Isadore Newman eleventh(321),  Episcopal twelfth(335),  PCA thirteenth(365) and Holden fourteenth(423).  Walker’s Warren Brady captured the individual Varsity boys title with a winning time of (15:36),  Sumner’s Leonel Moreno was second(15:51) followed by Country Day’s Adam Goldberg at the third position(15:57).  Ponchatoula’s Isiah Gilbert placed fifth(16:18),  Andrew Jordan(STA) ninth(16:27),  Craig Rock(STA) tenth(16:28),  Tommy Brocato(STA) eleventh(16:41),  Michael Perez(PHS) thirteenth(16:55) and Ben Schnadelbach(STA) fourteenth) were local award winners.

The Trafton Academy girls put ten runners in the top fifteen positions to capture the Junior High girls division with a perfect team score of (15),  over runner-up Jewel Sumner with (71),  St. Scholastica Academy was third(92),  Metairie Park Country Day fourth(105),  Belle Chasse Middle School fifth(117)  and Levi Milton sixth(154).  STA’s Chelsey Jones captured the individual title with a winning time of (12:15), followed by Trafton’s Meghan Becerra at the second position(12:46), followed by:  Emma Littell(TA) third(13:10),  Maggie Crawford(TA) fourth(13:17),  Abigail Bates(TA) fifth(13:25),  Breanna Becerra(TA) sixth(13:56),  Madelyn Nicaud(TA) seventh(14:05),  Annie Walls(TA) eighth(14:31),  Isabella Jones(HGS) tenth(14:44),  Hannah Lyons(HGS) eleventh(14:45),  Allison Smith(Loranger) twelfth(14:54),  Presley Walls(TA) thirteenth(14:58),  Jourdan St. Romain(TA) fourteenth(15:05)  and Olivia Rainey(TA) fifteenth(15:11) to round up the award winners.

The Trafton Academy boys edged-out the St. Peter School boys (49-52),  Jewel Sumner was a close third with (58),  Christ Episcopal was fourth(79),  Levi Milton fifth(118),  Belle Chasse Middle sixth(170),  Metairie Park Country Day seventh(170)  and Holden HS eighth(209). Trafton’s Eric Coston led the way with a winning time of (10:27),  Austin James(Sumner) was second (12:03),  followed by Clayton Ourso(HGS) third(12:19),  Dominick Schiro(STA) fifth(12:51),  Mason Thompson(TA) sixth(12:57),  Joey Edwards(Sumner) eighth(13:01), Jordan Cooper(Hannan) eleventh(13:18),  Danny Routt(Loranger) thirteenth(13:22) and Victor Harvey(TA) fifteenth(13:49). 

STA will be hosting their District Meet next Wednesday on the school’s campus with runners from STA, Northlake Christian and Pope John Paul competing.
