JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Nicholls State University women's track and field team completed the outdoor season at the 2012 NCAA East Preliminary Meet at the University of North Florida, as javelin throwers Jaimee Springer and Aja Scott finished in 17th and 37th place, respectively.
Springer's best throw of the day came in her final attempt of the first flight, finishing with a throw of 43.19 meters (141-8). Her mark was 17th best overall, leaving her one spot out of making the three-attempt final to whittle down to the 12 athletes to make the final. In the process, Springer had her highest finish at the regional level improving on her 36th place finish from a year ago.
In her third-straight NCAA meet appearance, Scott's second throw of 39.86 meters (130-9) was her best of the flight placing her 37th overall by the end of the first round, as the St. Francisville native finished four spots higher this year than in 2011.
