It has been a long and hard road for Trafton Academy seventh grader Eric Coston. He started running track in the first grade, and has steadily improved throughout his running career. Coston has competed at the National level in AAU Track and Cross Country, and has captured national titles and top honors in the distance races. Coston was diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter disease in his knees a couple of summers ago and had to cut his summer training short and actually rested and took a break. However, the last six months he has shown a great amount of improvement and has put some great mileage in and has learned to cope with the pain and has become very familiar with lots of stretching and icing. Eric has clocked 55.5 in the 400, 2;10 in the 800, 4;39 in the 1600 and tonight he posted a personal best time of 9;53 in the 3200. The awesome thing is that he has posted all of these times in local Junior High meets all alone, with the exception of the 400 meters. What makes Coston even better is that he performs in the classroom just as well as he does on the track, he maintains a straight “A” average, and he is one of the hardest workers that we have seen come through our school, and we have had many great runners at Trafton Academy in the last twenty years.
