Cajuns Travel to Houston

Houston, Texas – Cajuns Kyle Ward and Luke Moody both ran personal best in the 60-meter hurdles Saturday, at the Houston Invitational on the Campus of the University of Houston. Ward finished third in the event with a time of 7.96 and Moody finished eighth, at 8.22.
"For the men, our sprinters ran pretty well out there," said Head Coach Lance Veazey. "We had a pretty good day, but now it's time to switch our focus on preparing for the indoor conference championships."


Justin Lemaire placed third in the 5000-meter run at 15:57.91 and freshman Phillip Guidry out of Lafayette High School finished 20th in the one-mile run, at 4:32.19.


In the field events, Sophomore Toni Vaccarella finished eleventh in the high jump with a mark of 6-04.00.


On the women's side, Suzanne Boudreaux placed fourth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 11:21.57. Jasmine Collins finished eighteenth in the 800-meter dash, at 2:24.87.


In the field events, freshman Toni Lee placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 17-08.00. Latoya Celestine finished eleventh in the triple jump, at 36-07.50.


Up next for the Cajuns is the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 25-26, in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on the Campus of Middle Tennessee.
