JOHN CURTIS' ADDILYN DUFRENE VISUALIZES HER ATTEMPT AT THE 2024 LHSAA STATE OUTDOOR MEET
By all accounts, John Curtis junior Addilyn Dufrene is the top returning high jumper in Louisiana. She proved as much during last year's indoor season when Dufrene had a season best of 5-6.5 at the LSU High School Qualifier.
But Dufrene knows that the high jump is a finicky event and that at any given meet there are a handful of talented girls who can knock her off the top spot on the podium. She learned as much at last year's LHSAA State Indoor Meet where John Ehret senior Tenosh Landry had a personal record of six inches to upset Dufrene.
Dufrene bounced back during the outdoor season to win her first state championship at the 2024 LHSAA State Outdoor Championships, where she jumped 5-7.75, just .25 off her personal record, and won the title by two inches over Airline's Shelby Ledet and St. Joseph's Kennedy Papillion.
