NICHOLLS HARRIS, JONES PERFORM WELL AT HOUSTON CLASSIC

Houston, Texas- The women's indoor track and field team continues to make strides heading into the conference meet in two weeks.

Leading the way for Nicholls in Houston were Dominique Harris and Anastasia Jones.


Harris, who competed in both the 60-meter dash and long jump, moved up the all-time records list thanks to clocking in at 8.42 seconds in the 60-meter dash and leaping 16-02.5 feet in the long jump.


Harris now ranks third all-time in both events, while Jones moved into fifth all-time in the 5000-meter run with a time of 20:17.01.

Other finishers included LaTasha Bishop (200-meter dash, 28:80, 68th), Desiree George (200-meter dash, 34.77, 76th), Wongani Phiri (800-meter run, 2:36.81, 52nd) and Nicole Triche (800-meter run, 2:59.29, 56th).


Phiri and Triche also competed in the 1-mile run and finished in 37th and 41st places, respectively.

The Lady Colonels track and field team will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 12, when they participate in the Houston All-Comers Meet.
