McNeese\'s Darrick Brown leads Cowboys during Houston indoor track and field meet

Houston, TX - The field events gave McNeese State all of its scoring during the Houston indoor track and field meet here on Friday.


Jumper Darrick Brown led the way with a fourth place showing in the long jump and a sixth place in the high jump. He went 23-0 3/4 in the long jump and 6-7 1/2 in the high jump.


Also, pole vaulter Jimmie Heath and Ryan Lancon were leaders, Heath going 16- 3/4 and finishing fifth in the pole vault and Lancon clearing the same height and placing sixth.


Also in the pole vault, Devin Rodriguez cleared 15-7 for an eighth place finish.


During the one day meet the Cowboys scored 29 points while the Cowgirls came in with two points.


In the field events the Cowboys also got points from Marcus Brown with a 22-6 1/2 finish for sixth place in the long jump, from Vaalyn Jackson with 51-10 effort in the shot put and from Jimbo Hill with a 49-10 shot put.


Mary Katherine Shaw provided the only points for the Cowgirls with an 11-0 height in the pole vault.
