HOUSTON, Texas - Tulane's cross country program traveled to Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday (October 15) and came away with a pair of top-15 finishes at the Crimson Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama at the Harry Pritchett Running Park. The men's squad grabbed a 13th place showing and the women's squad claimed at 14th place overall finish. In the men's race, senior Brian Lozes was the pacesetter for the Green Wave with a 63rd place finish in the 158 person field. Lozes has been the team's top finisher in three straight meets now and covered the eight-kilometer course in 26:40.27. Freshman Mark Manion continued to show improvement on the season, finishing second on the squad in a personal best 27:29.83. The rookie placed 86th overall and chopped over two minutes off his previous career best at the 8K distance. Max Miller (89th), Jordan Vance (111th) and Cody Gibbons (112th) rounded out the scoring runners for the Green Wave. The trio finished with times of 27:33.16, 28:28.98 and 28:29.82, respectively. Those finishes gave Tulane 400 points, which was good enough for a 13th place team finish out of 21 teams. Also competing for Tulane was freshman Geoffrey Zelek in a time of 28:41.04, senior Mike Mainguy in 28:56.77 and junior Michael Villasin in 30:30.92.
