POLL: MileSplit LA 2025 Boys' Outdoor Athlete Of The Year

HAUGHTON'S JOHN BROWN COMPETES AT IN THE 400m AT THE 2025 LHSAA STATE MEET

Here is the final ballot of the 2025 Louisiana high school outdoor season. It contains that athletes who won performer of the week honors during the season. Congratulations to the finalists. The poll will close on Saturday at 9pm.

TYRIN GARRISON (GLEN OAKS)-- The junior opened up his season by winning both the 1600m and the 3200m at the Brusly Invitational where he also finished eighth in the 800m. Scored points in both the 1600m and 3200m at the District 6-3A Meet where he ran a personal record 11:53 to qualify for regionals. Earlier in April, Garrison ran a personal record 2:03 at the Grizzly Relays.

CHANNING BERARD (TEURLINGS CATHOLIC)-- The sophomore newcomer had an incredible year throwing the javelin. It started with wins at the Charles Lancon Invite (179-8) and the Pat Arceneaux Relays (178-0). He continued to improve throughout the season throwing a personal record 191-5 to the claim the Region 2-4A championship in the event. While he did not throw that far the following week at the LHSAA Class 4A State Outdoor Track & Field Championships, he was still able to win his first state championship with throw of 1177-9.5

JOHN BROWN (HAUGHTON)--Brown deserved every good thing that came his way in 2025 after suffering a devastating injury in the 100m at the District 1-5A Meet which ended a promising junior campaign. Brown found his comfort level early on in the 400m and he continued to get better every week. In fact, he reeled off seven straight wins in the event which culminated with a personal record 47.37 at the LHSAA State Outdoor Championships. He also finished in fourth in the 200m at state after claiming the Region 1-5A title with a personal record 21.09.

JAYDEN HUNTER (EDNA KARR)-- Hunter won five of his first six 200m hurdle races to start 2025. He continued to improve throughout the season and ran a personal record 38.75 to finish third at the Region 3-5A Championships to qualify for state. He also qualified for state in the 110m hurdles where he ran a personal record time of 14.83w.

JAYLEN JACKSON (HAMMOND)-- Jackson was rolling at the Region 2-5A Meet where he ran a personal record 47.52 in the 400m. That's tied at No. 13 on Louisiana's All-Time list for juniors. Unfortunately, it appears that he suffered an injury later in that meet in the 200m. On the bright side, Jackson will return in 2026 and--hopefully--have a healthy senior year.

BRENNAN ROBIN (PARKWAY)--After a freak accident during a training run sidelined Robin during the 2025 indoor season, the sophomore certainly made the most of his sophomore campaign. He won four out of five 3200m races, only finishing second at the LHSAA State Outdoor Championships to Jesuit's Brady Mullen. In that race he ran a 9:13.26. That time is No. 4 on Louisiana's All-Time list for sophomore boys. That's remarkable, especially considering the fact that Robin ran in the 1600m earlier in the meet. He finished third with a 4:17.58.

DYLAN HALL (WOSSMAN)-- Hall was undefeated over 400m this season. His PR (47.61) came at the Ouachita Lions Invitational. He also won two of his three races over 200m. The highlight of Hall's season came at the District 2-4A Meet where he won the 200m (22.20) and the 400m (50.96). We are unsure of why Hall did not compete in the Region 1-4A Meet

CALEB HILTON (ZACHARY)-- The senior Bronco saved his best for last this season in the 100m. He finished fourth at the LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 10.50. He returned at the end of the meet ran a 21.01w in the 200m for a third place finish. Hilton was also the District 4-5A runner-up in the high jump this year.

JOSEPH ENCINAS (HAUGHTON)-- Besides being one of the most improved hurdlers in the state of Louisiana, Encinas is also one of the best Tiktok follows you will find when it comes to La. HS track and field content. Encinas left his best for last in both hurdle races this season. He finished as the LHSAA Class 5a State Outdoor runner-up in the 300m hurdles with a 38.80.  He didn't make it to state in the 110m hurdles, but it wasn't from a lack of effort. He finished fourth in the highly competitive Region 1-5A Meet with a personal record 14.81.
