NATCHITOCHES, La.-The Centenary cross country teams took part in the NSU Invitational at NSU Demon Hills Golf Course on Monday afternoon as the Gents took third and the Ladies captured fourth overall.
The Gents ran an 8K route and compiled 59 points. Leading the way for Centenary on the men's side was Miles McDonald in fifth place with a time of 27:48.3. Teammate Robert Poole followed in eighth place with a time of 28:34.6, while Bradley Trimble (30:22.2) and David Micinski (30:35.2) finished in top 15 at 14th and 15th, respectively.
Sam Fell (31:29.2) placed 17th and Jared Galvan (32:51.8) rounded out the Centenary runners in 19thplace.
Grambling captured the team title with 24 points, followed by Northwestern State with 42 points in second. Centenary was third, while Louisiana College took fourth with 115 points.
The Ladies competed in the 6K race, led by top finished Jacquelyn Batson in 15th place overall with a finishing time of 27:38.2. Mellynn Baker was close behind, finishing 16th in 28:21.7, while Bonnie Cook (29:02.4) also placed in the top 20 in 19th place.
Rounding out the Centenary times was Jessica Marquart (29:05.9) in 21st, Justine Ruseell (29:18.1) in 22nd and Kelsey Regan (30:47.7) in 27th place.
Centenary tallied 93 points for a fourth place finish behind Northwestern State with 29 points in first place, Grambling (36) in second and Louisiana Tech (81) in third. Louisiana College (134) finished fifth.
The cross country teams will host the Centenary Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 16.
