Bell, Brown, Rew represent NSU at USA champs

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Two-time Olympic triple jumper Kenta Bell, 2010 All-America women's shot putter Trecey Rew and former two-time national champion high jumper Dr. Brian Brown represent Northwestern State in the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships beginning Thursday.

Bell, a 2000 NSU graduate and part of Team USA for the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, competes in the men's triple jump Friday night. He has been over 55 feet in competition this spring.

Rew, wrapping up her junior year with the Lady Demons, throws the shot put Saturday afternoon and competes in the discus Sunday afternoon. Her personal bests are 54-11 1/4 in the shot and 179-0 in the discus, where she won the NCAA East preliminary championship. She was ninth in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and did not place in the discus.

Brown, the meet director of the prestigious Drake Relays each spring, will be highly involved in helping host the national championships. He won the USA Outdoors high jump crown while competing for NSU in 1989 with a 7-7 1/4 clearance, and captured the NCAA Indoors championship in 1990 with a career-best 7-8 leap.
