NSU\'s Henry wins hurdles at LSU, continues early success on track

BATON ROUGE -- Northwestern State's J.D. Henry continued his impressive string of performances at the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational indoor track and field meet, winning the men\'s 60 meter hurdles Friday night.

The sophomore from Bunkie won with a time of 7.98. This is Henry's second top-three showing in as many weeks. Henry took third last week at the Razorback Invitational.

Two other Northwestern competitors also had top three finishes Friday at LSU. Marcus Gatlin, a junior from McComb, Miss., won third in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.63 while Shanae Steward, a freshman from Bossier City, took third in the women's triple jump with a 38-10 1/4. Steward's finish was the highest for any Lady Demon individual competitor in the meet.

The men's and women's distance medley teams also fared well with the women finishing second and the men finishing third. The women's foursome of Breeka Johnson, Dedria Truss, Margeaux Fisher, and Ruth Kinyanjui turned in a time of 13:02.33 while the men's team of Jeffrey Parker, T.J. Hoffpauir, Marcus Pitre, and Chris Warren finished with a 10:49.03 clocking
