TYLER BLISSETT IS ONE OF FOUR LA. STANDOUTS SELECTED FOR NIKE NATIONAL DMR
For the first time ever, Nike Indoor Nationals will crown the fastest state in America!
The State Distance Medley Relay (DMR) turns in-state rivals into teammates to represent their home turf. This year's concept to allow each state to assemble a squad, rather than only athletes from the same school, was introduced by high school phenoms Cooper Lutkenhaus (Northwest-Justin, TX) and Caden Leonard (Southlake Carroll, TX), who are also expected to compete.
The State DMR will take place on Sunday, March 15 and is scheduled for 3pm (EST) start.
Nike is only accepting 13 states for the inaugural event and has selected Louisiana's entry.
The DMR consists of a 1200-400-800-1600 meter sequence, which is expected to be contested by Tyler Blissett (Highland Baptist), Kaleb Bigwood (Hamilton Christian), Foster Lambert (Episcopal BR) and Connor Fanberg (Jesuit) respectively.
In addition to the DMR, the Louisiana boys are also expected to compete in individual events.
Blissett, who won the middle school 2-mile national championship as an 8th grader at his first Nike Indoor National Championship, will once again compete in the 2-mile.
Bigwood is expected to compete in the 200m dash on Saturday, after running the 400m in Boston (New Balance Nationals) on Friday.
Lambert will be competing in his first ever National Championship event in the 800m, and Fanberg will race the 4xmile relay with his Jesuit teammates.
Other states accepted into the event include Colorado, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Oregon and Texas.
Nike Indoor Nationals is held March 12-15 at the historic Armory in New York City.
