UNO Track Has Solid Meet at Leonard Hilton Memorial

HOUSTON (Jan. 21, 2005) – The University of New Orleans men's and women's track teams had a strong showing by earning several top ten accolades Friday at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Meet.

Priscilla Chapu earned a pair of seventh place finishes in the 200 and 400 meter events. Chapu crossed the line in 25.46 in the 200 and 58.30 in the 400. Amy Hamilton joined her Privateer teammate with top ten finishes in both the long jump and triple jump. Hamilton leaped a solid 11.17 meters in the triple jump to garner a sixth place showing. She followed that strong effort with a mark of 5.38 meters in the long jump to take eighth. Angela Makaha continued a strong early season with an eighth place mark in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:21.24.

The women's relay team's also had a successful day as the squad placed in two events. The Privateers took home a sixth place finish in the 4x400 meter race with a time of 4:01.82, while the distance medley team placed eighth with a score of 13:39.75

The men's team also reaped successes of their own with a trio of top ten performances. Antoine Chabanne and Olivier Monfort each placed fifth and sixth in the 800 meter dash with times of 1:57.39 and 1:57.57 respectively. Robert Delmore grabbed a sixth place showing in the 60 meter dash with a mark of 6.91.
