New Orleans (Oct. 19, 2004) – University of New Orleans cross country runner Cory Denstel was named Sun Belt Conference men's Performer of the Week on Tuesday in a vote cast by league coaches and sports information directors.
Denstel (Port Allen) placed second in the three-mile run at the Colonel Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning in Thibodaux. His time of 15:44 was seven seconds behind the top performer.
The freshman distance runner is the second cross country member to receive the award this season. Vicky Jones captured the honor for the women's team on Sept. 7.
UNO's men's and women's cross country teams will take this weekend off in preparation for the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Championships on Oct. 30 in Little Rock.
