KEIRA MELAN (6) COMPETES IN THE 2024 LHSAA STATE OUTDOOR AS A FRESHMAN
Last year, Keira Melan ran one of the fastest times in LHSAA history in the girls 800m. Her 2:15.33 as a freshman ranks No. 2 all-time. This year, Melan is running even faster as she has shaved a second off her personal best. Her 2:14.30 this year is Louisiana's No. 1 time. 
Nationally, Melan's time ranks No. 27 among on sophomore girls. It's also No. 3 all-time for sophomore girls in Louisiana history. 
For those Louisiana girls who ran under 2:30 last year, Mt. Carmel's Anna Joubert has improved the most. Joubert's season best of 2:18.05 is 11.15 faster than her best time a year ago. 
Other notable improvements have come from Sara Grace Hoggatt (4.27), St. Thomas More's Camryn Haik (6.81),  Parkview Baptist's Georgia Theriot (4.27), and Walker's Candilynn Vega (3.71).
