Metairie Park Country Day Girls Break Records in New York!

The Metairie Park Country Day distance group, under the direction of Jason Rouser and Maurice DuCarpe, has had so much fun during the 2025 indoor that they didn't want it to end. The group travelled to New York last weekend to compete in the Nike Indoor Nationals representing the PR Running Club. In the Big Apple, they continued their record-breaking indoor season.

Led by sisters Coco Goldenberg and Raine Goldenberg, both seniors, The 4x800 team broke the MPCD record twice. Their time was 9:34. Other members of the team included Lily Galliano and Coco Alvarado. That time ranks No. 3 all-time in Louisiana history behind this year's Parkview Baptist squad (9:18.82) and the 2017 Lafayette High team (9:23.63).

Alvarado, an eighth grader, competed in the emerging elite 800m where she set the school record with a time of 2:18. That is two seconds faster than any eighth grader in Louisiana has ever posted.

The fastest 800m by a La. high school freshman-2:18.06- was turned in by Warren Easton's Aaliyah Lane at last month's LHSAA D1 State Indoor Championships.
