MOLLY CRAMER (4) FIGHTS HER WAY THROUGH THE DMR TRAFFIC AT NEW BALANCE
Two of Louisiana's best travelled to national indoor meets over the weekend and demonstrated-again-that they are the best in the nation.
Parkview Baptist senior Aiden Monistere went to the New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston where he scored a pair of runner-up finishes in both the mile (4:06.31) and two mile (8:46.78).
West Feliciana senior Tristen Harris made her way to New York for the Nike Indoor Nationals where she overcame some adversity in the long jump. Harris jumped 20-5.75 on her final jump and as the runner-up.
It's the second consecutive year Harris has finished second in the meet. Last year she jumped 20-4.25.
For Monistere, it was the second time this season that he has competed on a national stage. In January, he competed-and won-at The VA Showcase in Virginia Beach, Virginia. There he won the two mile with a time of 9:00.68 and won the mile with a 4:07.87.
When Monistere was not racing, he was cheering on his Parkview Baptist teammates (Lucy Cramer, Molly Cramer, Georgia Theriot, Macey Theriot) who competed in both the 4x800 (9:18.82) and DMR (12:09.44) relays. With over 50 teams in each race, Parkview Baptist finished No. 12 in both races.
Parkview's time in the 4x800 and DMR are the fastest times ever run by a Louisiana team indoors. It surpasses Lafayette High's time of 9:23 in the 4x800 at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in 2017. Lafayette High (12:32) also had the fastest DMR in Louisiana history.
