It's time for the state outdoor championship edition of the MileSplit LA Girls' Performer Of The Week poll. Congratulations to all of the finalists. The winner of this week's poll will move on to the ballot of next week's MileSplit Louisiana Outdoor Athlete Of The Year. This poll will close on Saturday at 9pm.
KAI RICHARD (ZACHARY)-- Finished her career in style by earning a state championship in the shot put with a throw of 44-7. She returned in the discus where she overcame a slippery ring to finish on the podium with a throw of 115-8.
JANA THYMES (PARKVIEW BAPTIST)-- Thymes said she "avoided track as long as she could." Thymes made a name for herself in volleyball and will go on to compete for Liberty University. However, with parents who both ran track at LSU, the sport was in her blood. She put on a show in the final meet of her career winning MVP honors in Class 3A and helping her Eagles to their third consecutive state title. Thymes won the 100 meters (12.00), 200 meters (24.63), and long jump (18-10.75).
ERIN TIFFEE (MONTEREY)--Tiffee won both the shot put (32-6.25) and the discus (115-9) in Class B. The mark in the shot put was a personal record for Tiffee. In the discus, she was only nine inches away from a 32-year old class record.
NEVA LAMBERT(EPISCOPAL)-- Another sophomore who helped her team with the state championship. Lambert won the 3200 meters with a time of 11:25.18. She also finished second in the 1600 meters with a personal record time of 5:08.
ADDISON OUTLAW-KNIGHT (EVANS)-- She won the hurdle double in Class C. Her winning time in the 100 hurdles was 16.92. In the 300 hurdles, she broke the Class C record with a 47.01. Outlaw-Knight also finished fourth in the triple jump with a 31-11.50, and ran a leg on Evans winning the 4x400 relay. She was a big reason why her team won the Class C state championship.
KALIYAH BROWN (SOUTHERN LAB)-- Brown won the 100 meters (12.18) and finished second in the 200 meters (25.44). She also had a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 17-4.75. She finished the night on the podium with her 4x400 teammates as the Kitten relay team won with a 4:09.97. That was an important win and propelled them to the LHSAA 1A state championship.
AARYAM SALEH (TEURLINGS CATHOLIC)-- The sophomore finished on the podium in two individual events. She finished third in the 800 meters with a 2:19.29. She also finished third in the 400 meters with a 57.74. She ran legs on Teurlings Catholic's winning 4x800 relay and 4x400 relay. She was a big reason why the Rebels were able to win the Class 4A girls' state championship.
