BENTON'S SAM IVINS LEADS A PACK OF RUNNERS AT PARKWAY'S BORDER DASH
There was a Youth Movement in this week's MileSplit LA Performer Of The Week polls as Benton's Sam Ivins and North DeSoto's Katelyn Allen won top honors.
But their youth is not the only thing Ivins and Allen have in common. They are also the second athlete on their respective teams to win MileSplit LA Performer Of The Week honors.
Allen won the MileSplit LA Girls' Performer Of The Week poll with 45% of the votes (508 votes). Ivins won the MileSplit LA Boys' Performer Of The Week poll with 19,588 votes, or 40%.
Hahnville's Preston Mire was the runner up in the boys' poll (12,520 votes) and St. Macee Gore (434 votes) was the runner-up in the girls' poll.
Allen had the second fastest time among freshmen at the Benton Classic. Her personal record time of 20:39 was good enough for a No. 16 finish for the Lady Tiger who is ranked No. 23 among all freshmen girls in Louisiana.
Ivins also made the poll with his performance at the Benton Classic. His time of 16:45 was good enough to finish No. 20 in the competitive field. Overall, Ivins is ranked No. 16 in Louisiana among all freshmen.
